This session provides an accessible introduction to what leadership means in a technical context. Through discussion and short activities, participants will explore the difference between leading and managing, consider what effective leadership looks like in their own environment, and identify personal strengths they can build on as emerging leaders. The focus is on building self-awareness, confidence, and practical next steps for leadership growth.

At the end of this session, you will be able to:

• Describe the core principles of leadership and how they differ from management

• Recognise key qualities and behaviours of effective technical leaders.

• Reflect on their own leadership potential and strengths
