The UK RAS STEPS programme is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) to take part in an international knowledge exchange visit to Ikerlan, Spain – a leading research and technology organisation specialising in robotics and autonomous systems.
What’s Happening?
The first visit will host two RTPs, with additional opportunities planned for the future. This initiative is designed to connect UK technical professionals with global RAS expertise, fostering collaboration and innovation across borders.
What’s the Objective?
Participants will:
- Actively support ongoing projects at Ikerlan
- Contribute to selected tasks
- Gain hands-on experience with advanced robotics technologies
- Build international collaborations that strengthen the UK RAS community
Recommended Skills
To make the most of this opportunity, applicants should ideally have:
- ✅ Experience with ROS 2 Humble and Gazebo simulation environments
- ✅ Understanding of kinematics and dynamics of mobile manipulators
- ✅ Knowledge of robotic control strategies (nonlinear and adaptive approaches)
- ✅ Familiarity with intelligent algorithms (e.g., neural networks like RBFNN) for control or compensation tasks
