UK RAS STEPS aims to support the Research Technical Professional community through special interest groups.
UK RAS STEPS has identified and formed five Special Interest Groups (SIGS), to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and support the development of technical expertise across our network.
-
Automation in Robotics
-
ROS
-
Manufacturing for and in Robotics
We’re currently setting up mailing lists for each SIG, including everyone who participated in the discussions or expressed interest in these areas. These groups will be sent information for sharing knowledge, identifying challenges, and exploring collaborative opportunities.
Our work on Career Pathways also continues in partnership with key stakeholders across the sector, and we’ll keep the wider network updated as this progresses.
Behind the scenes, the STEPS operations team is exploring the best ways to enable communication and collaboration across all groups. Once a platform is agreed upon, we’ll share full details.
More initiatives are underway – watch this space for updates.
Get Involved
If you’d like to join one of the existing SIGs or suggest a new area of interest, we’d love to hear from you at info@ukras-steps.org. Your input is vital in shaping a community that works for everyone.
Feedback from the Community
If UK RAS STEPs could keep providing opportunity like these, a young technician like me could keep learning and improving which would in turn mean better yield for the university as well as better career prospects for me.
– Mohammad Areeb Akhter, Senior Robotics Officer, University of Nottingham
I had an incredibly insightful trip to the National Robotarium, funded by UK RAS STEPS, during which I met with other RTPs to discuss recycling of PLA. There were discussions about equipment, challenges, and future directions which gave plenty to think about. It was also great to build stronger connections through problem solving as a group.
